A Thought
Love is the greatest gift because it is the only thing we can give that never truly leaves us. It stays in the words we chose gently, in the presence we offered without fixing, in the way we held another’s pain as our own. Love does not end when moments pass or lives change; it continues as memory, influence, and quiet strength. Everything else we give may fade, but love remains—shaping hearts long after our hands have let go.
The Greatest Gift
The greatest gift is the gift of love—
not wrapped in ribbon, bought, or sold,
but freely given, quietly lived,
more precious far than silver or gold.
It stays when answers fall away,
when words grow thin and nights are long;
it bears the weight of tears and time,
and teaches fragile hearts to be strong.
Love gives itself without demand,
without a ledger, price, or claim;
it warms the cold, it lifts the bowed,
it speaks our worth and knows our name.
And when all other gifts grow still,
and seasons change, and hands must part,
love leaves its mark—unseen, unchanged—
a living echo in the heart.
So treasure this above all else,
for time may fade and things may move;
yet through it all, the truth remains:
the greatest gift is simply love.
